"Cha Chaan Teng," also known as "Tea Café," is a distinctive type of restaurant developed in Hong Kong. Colonized by the British for 152 years until 1997, Hong Kong has witnessed a unique blend of Western and Chinese cultures. Cha Chaan Teng, as an integral part of this cultural fusion, has played a significant role in shaping the everyday life of the Hong Kong people. It thus serves as an excellent case study for examining issues related to localization, cultural exportation, and the identity of Hong Kong.
